How does pricing work?

We use a "pay-for-what-you-use" model. You purchase USD credits. Every time you ask the AI to write a beat, rephrase a paragraph, or generate an image, a small amount is deducted based on the model's specific pricing.

Are there subscription packages?

No. We believe authors shouldn't be locked into monthly fees. You simply top up your balance when needed.

Do credits expire?

No. Your USD credits remain in your account until you use them.

How much does it cost to write a book?

It varies. If you write 90% of the text yourself and only use AI for brainstorming and occasional rephrasing, it is extremely cheap. If you rely heavily on the AI to generate prose, it will cost more. You control the cost by choosing which AI models to use.

Can I use my own API key (BYOK)?

Yes! If you have an OpenRouter API key, you can input it in your settings. Usage will be billed to your OpenRouter account, and your Book Writer balance will remain untouched.

What happens if I run out of credits?

You will lose access to premium models, but you can continue writing manually or use available free models until you top up.
